Was there ever such a thing as a decent person?
Someone who was kind and caring
Who gave rather than received
No
Not such a person has ever walked this Earth
We live in a world of fakes and pretenders
No one is who they say they are
Nothing is really what you’d think
You know only what they want you to
We are all spoon-fed what we are supposed to believe is the truth
All we know is lies
That spouse of yours
They say that they’re at work
And you’re always on their mind
Not really
They’re too busy doing your best friend to think of you
And for what?
In the end, it’s all the same
You’re off to “get a new shirt”
Yeah, right
You’re off to the pub to drink and forget
Think before you act
And yes, I mean you
For if you don’t; it could be the last thing you do
